Welcome to the Periscope Report.
We launched the Periscope Report in 2016 to track trade activity in Zimbabwe and the region in general.
The Periscope Report is invested in following developments around trade in Zimbabwe and its regional neighbours. We have a particular interest in the recently operationalised Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the EPAs involving the EU & the UK.
To interrupt your read, did you know that Trade is rooted in the theory of liberalism? Although trade is thought of in this context, we counsel that serious trade enthusiasts should not ignore global politics. State actions, in practice, tend to align often with Realism especially when negotiating trade deals. This makes trade an integral part of political relations between States globally. Check out our long form read on Realism here.
Since 01st January 2021, when the AfCFTA officially started trading, we have refined our interest to focus more on the AfCFTA. Consequently, up to 80% of our writing and reporting will be on the various aspects of the AfCFTA.
Our writers are trained in international trade, global politics and international relations in general.
We have attempted to keep presentation of our work here highly simplified. Our approach is hybrid in nature – news + research + analysis. The outcome equals The Periscope Report, an advisory service.
Every man lives by exchanging.

We concur that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We think there is something to show for Zimbabwe’s efforts to open up new trade frontiers as demonstrated by these everyday trade stories.
Enjoy your read.
