Zimbabwean and African Union chief technical advisor in the department of Trade and Industry Rongai Chizema says Africa cannot continue to experience natural resource exploitation when it has potential to use its resource endowment to industrialise and end poverty.

Britain on imports (The Herald)

Britain yesterday revised the tariff regime that would come into force if it leaves the European Union without a deal, making 88 percent of total imports by value eligible for levy free access.

Seeking to balance the need to keep consumer prices down without destroying domestic producers, Britain also said under a new “exceptional review process” it could make changes to the regime from day one if needed.

Local firms seek to partner UK companieS (NewsDay)

SOME local companies are reportedly negotiating distributor arrangements with United Kingdom (UK) firms and have identified business partners who will provide machinery for value-adding their products, ZimTrade has said.

ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organisation, recently completed an outward seller mission to the UK, which was aimed at expanding trade between the two countries and complementing Zimbabwe’s re-engagement efforts.

A total of 11 local companies took part in the mission.

As a result of the mission, participating companies are in the process of negotiating distributor arrangements with UK companies while some companies have identified business partners who will provide machinery for value-adding their products to meet requirements of their target market

ZimTrade said, adding that there is scope to increase Zimbabwe’s exports to the UK.

OPC ups Expo 2020 Dubai preps (The Herald)

THE Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) is seeking to engage an advertising agency, a media house, an expert or agency in data gathering and a digital solutions agency as it steps up preparations for Zimbabwe’s participation at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Expo 2020 Dubai is a global showcase to be hosted by Dubai, which is expected to attract 25 million visitors during the six months that it will be running, and provide an opportunity for Zimbabwe to gain global exposure in line with the “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” policy and its engagement and re-engagement drive.

According to the Government Gazette published on Friday, the advertising agency will be tasked with creating relevant information, education and communication (IEC) materials.
